I’m back Sydney!!
I don’t know about you but Sunday is the day for brunch with the fam bam, and what better place to go than The Grounds of Alexandria. Open 7 days a week 7:00am -4pm, this Sydney gem is located on the corner of Huntley Street and Bourke Road. Alexandria doesn’t seem like the closest of places but it’s only a 20 to 30 minute drive from the city centre, so grab your friends and get going! My tip, get there early for better parking and a spot in the restaurant for breakfast.
I’m a sucker for good food and a picturesque setting so it’s no wonder The Grounds of Alexandria is my first choice for a morning out. My favourite place to sit is in the greenhouse covered in overgrown vines with a specialty Brekkie Burger in hand, or if I’m feeling a bit snazzy smashed avocado with poached eggs and smoked salmon.
There’s so much to choose from in terms of food and drink that your hardest choice is deciding what to have. From breakfast baguettes and roasted nuts to freshly squeezed juices or that much needed coffee. No matter what you get, you’re in for a mouth-watering treat.
And for all you eco-tarians and organic enthusiasts, you’ll be happy to know that The Grounds are home to an abundant garden of organic fruit, veges, herbs and flowers. It’s even home to a few farm animals like a Shetland pony, silkie chickens and my personal favourite Kevin Bacon the pig. As if there were a more perfect name.
Another highlight for me was the unique set up and atmosphere it created. The space is a mix of café, garden and markets, blended together to create something new. There was so much to look at I wasn’t quite sure where to start, but when in doubt, follow your stomach. However, for all you keen florists or anyone looking for a gift (hint hint gentlemen), go check out the rainbow roses in the flower shop, they will easily brighten up anyone’s day.
I can honestly say if you haven’t been to The Grounds of Alexandria you are definitely missing out on something amazing. So grab your girls, guys, brothers, sisters, parents, and even your grandparents and get going!
