We Are The Stables in Surry Hills is hosting Monocle, the global affairs magazine’s first Pop-Up store in Sydney.
For four weeks, Monocle’s Pop-Up store will be housed at The Stables in Surry Hills. Run by publication and creative agency legend Tyler Brulé, who’s had some choice words on Australia’s nanny state government during his Game Changers talk for Vivid, Monocle magazine is the globally minded and culturally in tune briefing on on global affairs, business, culture, design and much more.
Even though it’s been around since 2007, you can be forgiven for not hearing of Monocle before. In the day and age of fast paced media outlets squabbling over the same stories and social media spitting off glimpses of interesting things here and there, Monocle operates at a decidedly measured pace and famously doesn’t have any social media outlets, opting instead for their print magazine which is released 10 times a year and also running a 24 hour global radio station. Yes that’s right, a radio station. Their wide range of rich, involved and insightful content are a breath of fresh air in the fast-paced, cluttered world we live in.
In recent years Monocle has ventured into other arenas, opening its own Café in London as well as an online store featuring their own stationary products and collaborative goods made with luxury brands from all over the world like Begg & Co – a lot of which you can pick up directly from their Pop-Up store at The Stables (check out our photos below).
Make your way down there to dive into the high flying world of Monocle, and if you do, tag us (@thesocial.co) in your photos with your thoughts and what you bought!
